On the eastern front, the battle for the city of Vremya Yar, west of Bakhmut, continues.

The beginning of the assault on the village of Kalinovka, north of the city, was announced by telegram on April 16 from the 46th Brigade.
Kalinovka is the key to the northern part of the city’s defense and allows us to begin flanking the city. In addition, the capture of Kalinovka will make it possible to make a breakthrough into the northern part of the city through the land part of the Seversky Donets canal.
To the south of the city, the invaders attempted to break through the botanical reserve “Stupki Golubovskie 2”. At this point, the Seversky Donets canal is about 1 km underground and the Russians do not need to overcome the water obstacle.
The occupiers continue to implement their plan regarding the flanking of the Times of Yar, which we wrote about earlier.
On April 16, the commander of the ACHILLES UAV battalion, Yuriy Fedorenko, also said that the enemy is pressing as hard as possible in the direction of Vremenny Yar: not only hitting it head-on, but also trying to advance along the flanks.
Over the past 24 hours, the enemy has had no tactical successes. The entire information campaign that the Russians allegedly entered Vremya Yar is not true. The city is completely under the control of the defense forces. Bogdanovka also remains partly under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. There are active and lively battles going on,” Fedorenko said.
What Vremya Yar looks like now, which is trying to take over the Russian Federation, was shown today by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The video was published by soldiers of the Black Swan strike group of the 255th assault battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
We are there, we are standing, hard, fighting. Believe, support,” the fighters wrote.
Now the situation in the city is the most difficult since the full-scale invasion – the invaders are trying to capture it. According to the commander-in-chief Alexander Syrsky, the occupiers intend to capture the city before May 9.
As of early April, 875 residents remained there, mostly older people who were hesitant to evacuate. Before the invasion, about 13 thousand people lived there.
It will be difficult for Russian troops to exploit the operational significance of the Provisional Yar, ISW analysts noted. In their opinion, Russian tactical successes east of Vremenny Yar did not create conditions for encircling the populated area.
