The European Union has previously agreed to extend duty-free trade with Ukraine for another year, but with the possibility of restrictions.

This was reported by Radio Liberty correspondent Rikard Jozwiak on the X network.
According to him, the extension of free trade with Ukraine until June 2025 was previously supported by the EU Council, the European Commission and the European Parliament.
This decision also provides for a “safety mechanism” under which quotas and duties could be reintroduced for agricultural products, namely poultry, eggs, sugar, oats, corn, cereals and honey.
The launch of the protective mechanism will depend on import volumes from mid-2021 to the end of 2023.
The fact that 2021 is taken into account in the calculation of the formula means that volumes should be significantly reduced, because in 2021, which preceded the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, imports of Ukrainian agricultural products into the EU were much lower, since quotas and import duties were applied.
Now the European Parliament and the Council of the EU must vote again. According to the EN website, European deputies will most likely vote during April.
The full adoption procedure must be completed by June 5, since the previous decision expires on that day.
