In Germany there are approximately 900 thousand former military personnel or conscripts with reservist status and under 65 years of age.
The head of the association of German reservists, Patrick Zenzburg, expressed the need to check all the country’s reservists for their combat readiness. BILD wrote this on Sunday, April 7.
Zenzburg noted that the defense of the Federal Republic of Germany may require 800 thousand soldiers. This means that in addition to 200 thousand active military personnel, 600 thousand reservists will have to be called up.
In addition, said Zenzburg, there are currently more than 20 thousand vacant positions in the country’s Armed Forces.
Speaking about the reserves, he noted that in Germany there are approximately 900 thousand former military personnel or conscripts under the age of 65 with reservist status.
“We need to check their health very quickly and allow them to train again,” Zenzburg said.
He added that if Germany was attacked and forced to defend itself, “we would have to think of a second and third wave of defense and these would be reservists.”
