Domestic violence is not just beating or rape. These include insults and humiliation, bans from work or control over the family budget, law enforcement officials note.
Domestic violence is not only physical, but also psychological, sexual and economic. Victims can be women, men, children, as well as the elderly. How to recognize violence and how to fight it, on Sunday, April 7, patrol police reported.
Signs that may indicate to you that someone is experiencing domestic violence:

systematic bruises, cuts, injuries that a person hides or claims to have received them at home:

separating a person from friends and family;
-
depression, anxiety, sleep disorders;
-
sudden changes in behavior;
-
loss of interest in activities that once brought pleasure.
Among the common forms of violence is economic. It is the seizure of a person’s housing, food, clothing, other property, money or documents, and the use of financial advantage.
Key signs of economic violence:

control over other people’s money;
-
restricting other people’s access to the use of common property;
-
manipulation of property rights as an advantage of one family member over another;
-
threatening the victim with confiscation of funds, property or personal property if he disobeys;
-
restricting another person’s right to study or work;
-
forced prostitution, begging, theft;
-
obtaining funds or documents from the victim;
-
coercion to transfer ownership of the victim’s movable and immovable property;
-
victim humiliation and psychological pressure due to superiority in material possessions;
-
manipulating the victim’s opinions and preferences by taking away material wealth and food from him.
Manifestations of economic violence against children:
-
the child has to ask for money from strangers, earn money himself, because there is not enough for the necessary things or food;
-
parents or guardians destroy, throw away or remove things from the child (toys, clothes, etc.);
-
the child is forced to work for someone or give pocket or gift money (personal items) to adults;
-
the child’s access to food is limited;
-
adults force a child into begging, stealing or prostitution;
-
as a form of punishment – parents force the child to work;
-
parents refuse to provide the child with funds for education or necessary educational materials;
-
parents force the child to behave according to their wishes, while at the same time threatening to deprive them of housing, food or personal possessions.
Police say if you witness domestic violence, ask yourself if it’s safe to do so before intervening. If the situation is dangerous and acute, do not intervene directly – call any of these numbers:
