The IAEA stated this in a statement on April 7.
The head of the agency, Rafael Grossi, did not express concern, but “called to refrain from actions that contradict the principles of the IAEA and violate nuclear safety.”
Who exactly launched the drone is not specified. Meanwhile, Russian media have already managed to blame Ukraine for this.
On April 4, Energoatom reported that the Zaporozhye NPP was on the verge of another blackout. Then, as a result of Russian shelling, the external overhead line PL-330kV “Zaporozhye TPP – Ferrosplavnaya” was switched off, due to which the temporarily occupied Zaporozhye NPP received power from the Ukrainian energy system to meet its own needs.
Zaporizhzhya NPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe.
Since the beginning of the Russian occupation, the Zaporozhye NPP has already experienced eight complete blackouts and one partial blackout with the launch of emergency diesel generators and safety systems. Their failure is fraught with the onset of an emergency situation.
