Germany’s main fraudster, Jan Marsalek, according to investigative journalists, was involved in the work of Russian agents in Europe.

Once considered one of the most successful CEOs of German companies, Marsalek is now wanted around the world as the organizer of the largest fraud involving Wirecard. In addition, Marsalek, as investigative journalists were able to prove, has been collaborating with Russian intelligence services for many years.
The Financial Times and Der Spiegel write that after escaping to Moscow, Marsalek may have coordinated burglaries and contract killings in Europe. This is evidenced by correspondence from confiscated mobile phones analyzed by Western investigators. These included several messages from Marsalek to Russian agents.
In particular, Marsalek is believed to have taken part in organizing a break-in at the home of investigative journalist Christos Grozev in Vienna. In recent years, Grozev has often investigated the work of Russian secret agents and released investigations that prevented the Kremlin from developing a spy network.
The leader of the group of burglars wrote to Marsalek that they managed to steal a laptop and other storage media from the journalist’s house. The thieves were probably looking for a laptop that contained information about the poisoning of opposition leader Alexei Navalny. However, as a result, according to Der Spiegel, they stole an old unnecessary device.
At Marsalek’s request, a detachment from Bulgaria also spied on other Kremlin opponents in Europe. Five suspected Russian intelligence agents were arrested in Britain last February and their trial is due to begin soon.
In addition, former constitutional protection officer Egisto Ott, who was arrested in Austria, according to journalists, on behalf of Marsalek, scouted information about opponents of the Russian regime.
