The Lithuanian government will also allocate 15 million euros for rehabilitation programs for wounded Ukrainian soldiers. In addition, Vilnius allocated 35 million euros for the Czech initiative to purchase artillery ammunition. The corresponding agreement was agreed upon with the Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrida Simonyte. The head of the Ukrainian government Denis Shmigal announced this on April 5 in Telegram.
We will continue to help the Ukrainian military at the front, so Lithuania donated 35 million euros to the Czech initiative to purchase ammunition. We also agreed with the Minister of National Defense that Lithuania will soon purchase about 3 thousand Lithuanian FPV drones for about 2 million euros,” Simonyte said at a press conference.
According to him, Lithuania is actively involved in the reconstruction of Ukraine and will allocate another 5 million euros for education and 12 million euros to help veterans, restore schools and kindergartens, and arrange shelters.
During his visit to Vilnius, Szmigal thanked the allies for their clear position on blocking the export of Russian and Belarusian agricultural products to the European Union.
Today he also proposed a new initiative – a ban on air transit to the Russian Federation and Belarus. This, according to the prime minister, will limit the economic potential of the aggressor, as well as tighten sanctions pressure on Moscow.
Let us remind you that on April 3, Finland announced the allocation of 23 aid packages to Ukraine in the amount of 188 million euros. The Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive air defense systems and artillery ammunition. Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Helsinki has transferred almost 2 billion euros in military aid to Kyiv.
