If a child is absent from school for 15 calendar days without a valid reason, the child may be considered for expulsion.
An extraordinary inspection of Ukrainian children with temporary protection in kindergartens and schools has begun in the Czech Republic. Data collection is being carried out to find out how refugees attend educational institutions, as education is compulsory in the Czech Republic. This was reported by proukrainu.blesk.cz.
According to the Czech Ministry of Education, from April 3 to April 10, an extraordinary inspection of Ukrainian children with temporary protected status will take place in elementary schools, secondary schools and conservatories.
Data collection is carried out to find out how children from Ukraine participate in the education process and comply with the obligation to attend school. At the same time, parents do not need to report, because the inspection concerns schools whose directors themselves provide information about students.
As you know, in the Czech Republic, attendance at educational institutions is compulsory. Children must attend kindergarten (the last year of preschool education) and school for 9 years. That is, from 5 to 15 years, maximum up to 17 years.
If a child does not attend school for 15 calendar days without valid reason, the child may be considered for expulsion from school. Parents will receive a letter from the school principal informing them of possible expulsion and asking them to provide an explanation for the absence. An additional 15 days is given to resolve the issue.
After 30 days of absence, the child will automatically be considered expelled from school unless the parents provide an explanation for the absence.
We remind you that from September 1, 2024, all Ukrainian children who are now in Poland because of the war must attend local schools.
Earlier it was reported that more than 286 thousand children from Ukraine study in educational institutions in Poland. About two-thirds of Ukrainian schoolchildren and students came to Poland after the outbreak of a full-scale war in Ukraine.
