Vessels should not pass through the Great Belt Strait due to the possibility of falling missile debris.
In Denmark, due to a malfunction of the launcher on one of the warships, it was necessary to partially close the airspace and stop the movement of the ships in an important strait. This was reported by Reuters on Thursday, April 4.
The Danish National Maritime Authority has issued a warning that ships should not pass through the Great Belt Strait, which is the main route to the Baltic Sea, because of the possibility of falling missile debris.
The Armed Forces clarified that this was due to a malfunction of the launcher on one of the fleet ships during the exercise.
“The problem arose during a mandatory test where the launcher was activated and could not be deactivated… While activated, there was a risk that the missile would fire and fly several kilometers,” said the statement.
Despite being closed to ship traffic, the bridge that crosses the strait remains open.
Let’s recall that in March, two people died during military training at a training ground in Poland. A serviceman from the Netherlands died during a training exercise in Germany.
