The representative of the UN Secretary General Stephane Dujarric, in a comment to the Voice of America, explained his resonant call to stop attacks on the civilian infrastructure of the Russian Federation in the context of the recent attack on targets in Tatarstan.

I heard the question wrong. If they asked again, I would not answer that way,” he emphasized.
On April 2, Dujarric said at a briefing that the UN “opposes and calls for an end to all attacks on civilian infrastructure.” The statement came in response to a question about strikes on a drone assembly plant in Russian Tatarstan.
It is worth noting that the journalist who asked Dujarric’s question did not indicate that a plant producing kamikaze drones was attacked in Tatarstan.
During the briefing, Dujarric also recalled that Russian attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure continue.
Turning to Ukraine, our colleagues at the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs tell us that while fighting and attacks on critical infrastructure continue, aid workers are supporting people across the country, including in frontline areas, he noted.
Russian officials have previously confirmed that drones attacked manufacturing plants in Yelabuga and Nizhnekamsk, located in the Russian Republic of Tatarstan, about 1,500 km from the border with Ukraine. This was the first drone attack on the territory of Tatarstan since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Responding to a request from Voice of America, Dujarric clarified:
We have a clear position – we want an end to this conflict in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the General Assembly, international law and the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
