The risk of escalation from Russia against Ukraine is “not as high as it could be at the beginning,” said the head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Fears about a possible large-scale offensive by Russian invaders in Ukraine must be heightened. The head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, US General Charles Brown, said this, Defense One reported yesterday.
“I don’t know if the Russians are capable of going on a big offensive. I mean it’s worth looking at… what happened over the… last year – the Russians really made a lot of forces and personnel, weapons systems and vehicles, to get what they took,” said the head of the US military.
Brown pointed out the great losses suffered by the Russian invaders.
“And I would even say that how much is ground there is like a meat grinder,” he clarified.
The American general also expressed the opinion that the risk of escalation from Russia against Ukraine “is not as high as it might have been at the beginning.” That is why he once again called for the quick acceptance of US defense assistance to Ukraine.
The previous day, President Vladimir Zelensky said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had stabilized the situation on the front, but that Russia was probably preparing a new offensive at the end of May or June.
Earlier, the media reported that Vladimir Putin wants to capture Kharkov and therefore seems to be preparing offensive actions against the city. To this end, further mobilization may be announced in Russia.
In this regard, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, said that Kharkov could become a “fatal city” for the Russians.
