Today’s top priority for the US Department of Defense remains arming the Ukrainian army.
The United States stands ready to fulfill its obligations to defend NATO. This was said on Tuesday, March 26, by Deputy Pentagon Representative Sabrina Singh, who commented on the entry of a Russian missile into Polish airspace, as quoted by Ukrinform.
“I can tell you that this administration has said over and over again: we will defend every inch of NATO territory. If a NATO ally is attacked – we certainly don’t want to see that – but we will defend every inch of NATO territory,” Singh said.
Thus, he commented on Poland’s statement that Russian missiles directed at NATO countries will be shot down by air defense forces.
At the same time, he noted that the priority remains to provide Ukraine with everything it needs.
“Once we receive a package with additional funding from Congress, we will continue to arm Ukraine with what it needs on the battlefield,” a Pentagon spokesman said.
Let’s recall that on March 24, a Russian missile violated Polish airspace in the area of the village of Oserdów, Lublin Voivodeship, and stayed there for 39 seconds.
Vladislav Kosinyak-Kamysh later said the military would have shot down the Russian missile if they were confident it was heading for some domestic target. And the Polish Armed Forces said they did not shoot down the missile so as not to create a danger for the local population.
Meanwhile, social networks exploded with memes about Poland’s air defense.
