Of all the Florida congressmen who voted for the amendment, only one person did not support the proposed bill.
In Florida, children will be banned from using social networks. The ban applies to everyone under the age of 14. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis made the announcement on Tuesday, March 26.
“I signed a bill that prohibits children under 14 from having social media accounts without parental consent,” he said.
It states that the owners of such networks are required to delete children’s accounts created without parental consent.
“The bill is dedicated to protecting children. State authorities are preparing to sue network owners who violate this law and demand fines,” DeSantis said.
The new law is set to take effect in the state in January 2025.
It is known that the only Florida congressman who voted against the newcomer was Congresswoman Angie Nixon from Jacksonville, a mother of five. He said it was an “overreach of government” because parents, not any rules or laws, “should decide if their children are allowed to be on the Internet.”
US Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines said China could use the TikTok app to influence the 2024 US election.
After a closed trial, which lasted a year, the Bluesky social network allowed everyone to register, and in addition, the social network only allowed new users with an invitation code.
