On Thursday, March 21, during a night missile attack on approach to the capital, a mobile fire group of the Ground Forces destroyed a Russian missile with fire from a Browning M2 machine gun. The Ukrainian Ground Forces reported this on Facebook.
It is noted that this is not the first cruise missile shot down by this unit. The military published a video of the destruction of an enemy target online.
As is known, the American-made Browning M2 heavy machine gun is effective against infantry, unarmored and lightly armored vehicles, fortifications, as well as helicopters at low altitudes. The effective firing range for this type of weapon is up to 2 thousand m.
Let us remind you that on the night of the 21st, Russia launched a massive missile attack on Ukraine. The enemy attacked with two Iskander-M Kh-47M2 Kinzhal ballistic/aerobalistic missiles, as well as 29 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles. The missiles came from the north, but the main direction of attack was Kyiv. Ukrainian air defense destroyed all targets, but missile debris damaged many houses and injured at least four people.
