The shells fell into the Sea of Japan just minutes after they were launched, and they traveled about 350 kilometers.
North Korea on Monday, March 18, launched several ballistic missiles towards the Sea of Japan. It was North Korea’s second ballistic missile launch this year, following the first launch of a solid-fueled medium-range ballistic missile with a hypersonic warhead in January, Yonhap reported.
Japan’s Defense Ministry said North Korea launched at least two ballistic missiles this morning local time. The first launch announcement came at 07:46, and 30 minutes later came the next.
According to Japan’s Ministry of Defense, both projectiles fell into the Sea of Japan within minutes of their launch, with the weapons traveling about 350 kilometers. So far there have been no reports of damage to ships or aircraft. The Ministry of Defense continues to monitor the situation.
“This series of actions by North Korea threatens the peace and security of our region and the international community and cannot be tolerated,” said Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
Let’s recall that on January 14, the DPRK launched its first medium-range ballistic missile in 2024 off its east coast. The next day, North Korea announced that it was testing a missile with a hypersonic warhead.
