Azerbaijan demands that Armenian authorities immediately transfer control over four villages – Baganis Ayrim, Ashagi Askipara, Kheyrimli and Gizilgadjili. Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev said this the other day, AZERTAC reported.
“Regarding the four non-exclave Azerbaijani villages occupied by Armenia, their property in Azerbaijan is unquestionable, and they are subject to immediate release,” he said.
The aforementioned villages are located in the internationally recognized territory of Azerbaijan. The Armenians occupied them in the early 90s during the conflict.
It was noted that the issue of four Armenian-controlled exclave villages (Yukhari Askipara, Sofulu, Barhudarli and Karki – ed.) of Azerbaijan will be resolved within the framework of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border delimitation process.
Mustafayev also spoke about the work of state border delimitation commissions created in Azerbaijan and Armenia, which have already held seven meetings.
At this stage, within the framework of the activities of the commissions, the work is carried out to create the regulatory framework necessary for carrying out the delimitation work.
In addition, Baku denied information from the Armenian media about Azerbaijan’s occupation of 31 Armenian villages.
We remind you that on February 13, the Armenian Ministry of Defense and the Azerbaijani military opened fire on Armenian positions, as a result of which some were injured.
Armenia later accused Azerbaijan of trying to start a full-scale war.
And at the end of January, Armenia invited Azerbaijan to sign a non-aggression pact. In turn, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said that peace will be possible if changes are made to the Armenian Constitution.
