The head of the Russian defense concern Rostec, Sergei Chemezov, announced yesterday his refusal to deploy the Armata tank in the combat zone. He explained this by the seemingly high cost of this combat unit. However, the British Ministry of Defense pointed out the real reason for the refusal to send the T-14 to the front.
The fact is that the occupiers are afraid of embarrassment with the Armata on the battlefield. The damage to these armored vehicles would cause reputational damage to Russia. In addition, the aggressor country needs to produce more and cheaper tanks.
Today, it can almost certainly be said that the T-14 Armata will not be in Ukraine. This is very likely due to the potential reputational damage from losing a “prestigious” vehicle in combat, as well as the need to produce more tanks, which can only be met through other options, the British department said in a March 5 review.
The British recalled how the Russians presented the Armata tank on May 9, 2015 in Moscow, when it stalled during a rehearsal.
Let us recall that British intelligence reported that in 2022, stationed Russian troops were reluctant to accept the first allocated T-14 Armata tanks into service, since the vehicles touted by propaganda were in very poor condition.
