This was reported on March 5 by Voice of America.
The EU representative office said that the refusal was caused by a low level of trust in the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Lavrov said that the meeting with European diplomats was supposed to be dedicated to the upcoming so-called presidential elections in so-called Russia.
However, two days before the scheduled event, the Foreign Ministry received a message that the ambassadors would not come to the meeting.
Let us remind you that last Saturday, March 2, the heads of the Foreign Ministries of Slovakia and Hungary met with the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Lavrov – they pressed his hands, had dinner and laughed.
This meeting took place in Antalya, where Lavrov also met with representatives of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Eswatini. This “gathering” was organized by Turkish President Erdogan to “promote diplomacy in times of turmoil.”
According to Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, this meeting is an example of “our balanced and sovereign Slovak foreign policy towards all sides of the world.”
However, the Slovak opposition did not like the meeting with Lavrov.
They confirmed that the current government no longer sees Slovakia in the West, but it sees itself rather in an authoritarian direction and overtaking a dictatorial regime,” emphasized Tomas Valasek, vice-chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Slovak Parliament.
Another Slovak MP said that with such an act the minister put Slovakia on a par with Iran, North Korea, China and Hungary.
