The contract stipulated that the Belarusian contractor Volatavto OJSC should supply 250 units of products necessary for the production and repair of the Grad MLRS to the Russian customer Special Design Bureau CJSC. the occupiers were to receive frames, bases, guide pipes, pipes and other elements of combat vehicles. The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this on March 2.
It is noted that the dispute arose during a meeting when the Volatauto delegation presented papers with calculations. And the cost of certain types of Belarusian products exceeded what the Russians expected by 500-600%.
And after intense negotiations, the Belarusians carried out additional calculations and found a way to reduce the cost: subcontractors who do not have the appropriate licenses will produce the components. Thus, Russians will receive low-quality parts, which will mean increased risks of using Grads assembled from such parts and assemblies.
The GUR added that both of these enterprises are subject to international sanctions.
Let us recall that at the end of 2023, the Ukrainian defense industrial complex increased the production of armored vehicles – in Ukraine, the production of domestic armored personnel carriers increased five times compared to the spring of 2023.
