The head of the government of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, was in Ukraine on March 1.

In Kharkov, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte held negotiations in narrow, expanded and military cabinet meeting formats, and also signed an agreement on security cooperation between Ukraine and the Netherlands.

The document provides for two billion euros of military aid from the Netherlands this year, as well as subsequent defense aid over the next ten years.

The agreement also prioritizes assistance in the areas of air defense, artillery, naval and long-range capabilities, with a particular emphasis on strengthening the Air Force.

The agreement formalizes the Netherlands’ principled position to strengthen sanctions against Russia, force it to pay damages and hold the aggressor accountable.

According to the document, the Netherlands also supports Ukraine’s future membership in the EU and NATO.

Zelensky and Rutte inspected buildings damaged by Russian shelling.

Zelensky spoke about Rutte’s visit in an address to Ukrainians:

Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky, Air Force Commander Oleshchuk, and Defense Minister Umerov held a special military briefing for Mark Rutte regarding the current situation at the front, our capabilities in active operations and defense in specific areas. Of course, they spoke specifically about Kharkov. I am grateful for the willingness of the Netherlands to continue to help. This is a really powerful visit today. I am grateful to Mark personally and to all the people of the Netherlands for their support of Ukraine.

In addition, the President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of the Netherlands attended lessons held in specially equipped classrooms at the University metro station.

There are 858 children from 40 classes studying at the University station. In general, training facilities are equipped at five stations of the Kharkov metro: “University”, “Pobeda”, “Akademika Pavlova”, “Metrostroiteley” and “Tractor Plant”. 106 classes have been formed in which 2,191 children receive knowledge.

The educational process is organized in two shifts. In addition to the teacher, each class has a tutor and a psychologist. Medical care, free food, internet, video surveillance and security are provided. Children from all over the city are transported free of charge by bus, accompanied by patrol police.

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion in Kharkov, more than 20 thousand buildings have been destroyed. Schools, universities, homes, kindergartens and churches. The city was disfigured by Russian shelling, but definitely unconquered.
