This was reported by the Crimean Wind monitoring group.
It is noted that at the air base in Aktyubinsk on Saturday, February 24, there were two A-50s. On Wednesday, February 28, one A-50 was still parked.
At the Ivanovo air base there are four A-50s on the field with engines and one outside the field with engines.
On February 29, OSINTers also spotted an A-50 at Taganrog airport (130 km from the front line), where it had not been seen the day before.
The A-50 is a Soviet and Russian long-range radar detection and control aircraft. Its purpose is to identify and track air and sea targets, as well as manage air defense operations.
The A-50 is the most important element of the reconnaissance functionality of the Russian army. In particular, it is with its help that the Russians record the takeoffs and movements of Ukrainian tactical aviation, the launches of Storm Shadow missiles, etc. In addition, such aircraft are target designation elements for Russian tactical aviation.
