The game, which is in development, is supposed to be a first-person shooter game set in the Star Wars universe.
Electronic Arts (EA) is laying off employees worldwide, which will prevent the completion of development of the Star Wars game. The BBC reported it.
It is known that EA will cut 5% of its employees worldwide – approximately 670 people.
The company said the layoff plans were an “optimization” and added that it would “deliver a deeper and more complete fan experience” from the games.
In a letter to staff, CEO Andrew Wilson said the company had begun contacting affected workers and that the cuts were expected to be completed by the summer. He also explained the decision to develop fewer new games.
“We are also completing game development and moving away from developing future licensed IP that we believe will not be successful in our changing industry,” he wrote.
It was previously reported that a game blogger with the nickname Parrot developed an unofficial localization of the game in Ukraine. The Witcher 3.
