If the Europeans want Ukraine to win, they must “give more help and faster,” the EU’s diplomacy chief believes.
Europe must step up its aid to Kyiv if it does not want Putin to win. This is what EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper El País, published on Sunday, February 25.
In his opinion, the outcome of the war in Ukraine may be resolved in the coming months.
“Putin and Trump haven’t won yet, but they can win,” Borrell believes, so “Europe should wake up.”
The head of EU diplomacy noted that EU countries have already provided Ukraine with “civil, military, economic and humanitarian aid” more than the United States. However, if the Europeans want Ukraine to win, they must “provide more aid, faster.”
The diplomat said that European countries are not directly involved in the war in Ukraine and therefore “do not fully understand” the significance of what is happening.
“Russia is an undemocratic regime capable of destroying its opponents, such as Navalny, or removing defectors from European soil. Do we want it to appear at the door of Europe and control 36% of the global grain market? ” – asked the head of European diplomacy.
Borrell emphasized that it is time for Europe to “wake up” and realize what a dangerous world exists here. He also called on Europeans to take responsibility and improve their own defense capabilities to be ready “for any eventuality.”
In the past, the EU announced that they would produce up to 2 million shells annually for Ukraine.
Borrell called on EU countries to immediately transfer ammunition to Ukraine
