This is stated in a statement from the White House.
The President expressed his admiration for the extraordinary courage of Alexei Navalny and his legacy in the fight against corruption and for a free and democratic Russia, where the rule of law still applies to everyone. The president stressed that Alexei’s legacy will be carried on by people across Russia and around the world who mourn his loss and fight for freedom, democracy and human rights, the White House said.
Biden also confirmed that tomorrow Washington will announce major new sanctions against Russia in response to Navalny’s death, as well as aggression in Ukraine.
The legacy of Alexei’s courage will remain with Yulia and Dasha, as well as countless people across Russia fighting for democracy and human rights, Biden wrote on his social networks.
