Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine of the Ministry of Defense, Major General Vadim Skibitsky, stated this in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
Before the elections, they are the ones who want to reach, at least, the administrative borders of the Lugansk region. To have at least some success, something like Avdeevka, perhaps somewhere else in some direction,” Skibitsky emphasized.
According to him, the key targets of the Rashists could be Kupyansk and Liman.
Why Kupyansk, Liman? To show that it was possible to return the territories that Ukraine liberated after the start of full-scale aggression. Because it will be symbolic. This is an element that will be actively used in information and psychological operations, promotions, and the information space,” he noted.
Skibitsky notes that one of the main tasks that the Russians set for themselves – the so-called “dismissal or assistance to the LPR and DPR” for two years of a full-scale invasion of Ukraine has still not been completed – the occupiers have not reached the administrative border of either Luhansk, nor Donetsk. regions.
And that’s why now we see the enemy’s activity, which is connected with demonstrating some significant result at least before the Russian presidential elections,” Skibitsky noted.
I am sure that Avdiivka will be presented in the elections as an incredibly big strategic victory. Although we understand that this is not a strategic victory at all. Due to this, they simply pushed our troops away from Donetsk, he added.
