The press services of the SBU and the Office of the Prosecutor General reported this today, February 19.
According to the investigation:
- The attacker is a 45-year-old native of the Luhansk region, who moved to the Cherkasy region in April 2022 as an immigrant from eastern Ukraine. At the beginning of this year, he was remotely recruited by a representative of the Main Directorate of the General Staff from the Russian Federation (known as the game). The recruitment took place through an acquaintance of his – a militant of the Russian occupation group, which is stationed in the TOT Luhansk region;
- in January-February 2024, he transmitted intelligence data through the Telegram messenger – he photographed the locations of the relevant objects;
- for each information transmitted, the man received from 50 to 100 US dollars.
It is noted that the invaders expected to use the information received from him to plan missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian targets:
- the main task of the attacker was to identify the junction railway stations involved in transporting military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the front;
- the occupiers also hoped to receive from their agent the exact coordinates of warehouses with weapons and ammunition of the Ukrainian troops;
- in addition, the aggressor was interested in the locations of military hospitals where wounded soldiers of the Defense Forces were being treated.
The Russian agent was detained while carrying out yet another enemy mission. He was informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code (high treason committed under martial law). Currently, a preventive measure has been chosen for the attacker – detention.
