This will be a joint venture between Rheinmetall and a Ukrainian company as a partner in this project. The document on the creation of a strategically important plant was signed on February 17 on the sidelines of a conference in Munich. In particular, the Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine Alexander Kamyshin was present. This was reported by the press service of the German company.
The joint venture is expected to produce six-figure quantities of 155mm artillery shells per year. The plant will also produce propellant charges.
The Rheinmetall concern will own 51% of the shares of the joint plant, and the Ukrainian company will own 49%.
Let us recall that in December 2023, Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger stated that the concern wants to launch its armored vehicles production plant in Ukraine as early as 2024. It is planned that this plant will produce Fuchs armored personnel carriers and Lynx infantry fighting vehicles.
The Germans plan to create armored personnel carriers in Ukraine from the end of summer 2024, and plan to put infantry fighting vehicles into production before the summer of 2025.
