The Armed Forces of Ukraine had to make “hard decisions on the part of the commanders on the entire front, from the east to the south.”
The suspension of funding for defense assistance to Ukraine from the United States of America will require a shortage of ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the front. Some units already distribute ammunition during combat operations because of the risk of shortages. White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby announced this on Wednesday, February 7, in a briefing in Washington.
“Commanders on the battlefield are making some really tough decisions right now. We know that in some units they’re very, very careful about rationing their ammunition because they’re starting to worry about running out of it, Kirby said.
According to him, the Russian invaders are taking advantage of this situation, and are therefore actively attacking.
“And the Russians know this. That’s why they continue to attack with drones and missiles to force the Ukrainians to use air defenses that they know have not been replaced yet,” a White House official said.
Kirby pointed to the battle around Avdievka and noted that this settlement was for the invaders a “starting point, a logistics center” for continuing offensive operations in Donbass.
EU countries cannot fully implement this plan. According to Bloomberg, the EU will provide Ukraine with 600,000 rounds of ammunition in March.
