We need to stop talking about a deadlock or that time is not on the side of Ukraine, believes the British Foreign Minister.
The British and American economies are tens of times stronger than the Russian, and Russian President Vladimir Putin has already suffered a “huge strategic defeat” in the war against Ukraine. This is what British Foreign Secretary David Cameron said, commenting on future cooperation between Britain and the United States if Donald Trump is elected as the new president.
Cameron said in an interview with the British publication The Sunday Times that Britain and the United States could show that time is not on Putin’s side.
The minister said that when he returns to Britain from his trip to the Middle East, he will speak on the phone with US senators and congressmen to ensure that Congress allocates financial aid to Ukraine.
“Putin has suffered a massive strategic defeat, and we need to stop talking about impasse or the fact that time is not on Ukraine’s side. Our economy is 25 times bigger than Russia’s (we are talking about the American and British economies together – ed.). We are absolutely We can show that time is on our side, and not on Putin’s side, “he said.
The head of the British Foreign Office added that he will try to convey this message to US President Donald Trump if he is re-elected.
Cameron said he would work with Trump, adding that at the end of the day they have “a lot of common values, common approaches and common thinking.”
“If you look at the way our intelligence agencies work together, you look at the way our troops train and work together, you look at the way we fly together in the Red Sea today, it’s very deep. So, we have something to deal with with anything,” he explained.
Cameron did not comment on exactly how much Britain should allocate as a percentage of its GDP to defence, but said it would be right to increase defense spending.
He said the UK needs to provide better value for money within its defense budget and it needs to ensure multi-year production is included in that budget.
“And that’s what we’re talking about [британским министром обороны] They said Grant Shapps because we must show that we can supply Ukraine with weapons on an ongoing basis,” he said.
At the same time, Cameron stressed that Britain must replenish its own reserves.
Let’s remember that Trump said he would “end the war” in Ukraine even before his inauguration. He also criticized Europe for “giving Ukraine 10 times less money than the United States.”
