Wildfires are raging in many parts of the Valparaiso region, home to nearly a million residents.
Forest fires in Chile have killed at least 46 people. The BBC reported this on Saturday, February 3.
The country’s President Gabriel Boric warned that the number of victims may increase. He noted that “fires spread quickly and climatic conditions: high temperatures, strong winds and low humidity make them difficult to control.”
Chile’s leader called for cooperation with rescuers fighting the spread of the fire.
“If you are ordered to evacuate, obey without hesitation,” he urged.

According to Chilean authorities, the areas most affected by the fire are areas around the coastal tourist city of Viña del Mar. The mayor of Viña del Mar said that more than two hundred residents are considered missing.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, more than 43 thousand hectares are covered by fires throughout the country.
The fires are said to be caused by above normal temperatures and strong winds.
Let’s remember that a year ago, as a result of the forest fires that consumed Chile in the middle of the heat, at least 23 people died and about a thousand more were injured.
A large fire broke out near the city of Villa Carlos Paz in the Argentine province of Cordoba, caused by a man who tried to brew coffee.
