A Defense Committee investigation found that the “downsizing” of the Armed Forces since 2010 has weakened Britain’s fighting capabilities.
Members of the UK Parliament have said the country’s Armed Forces are not sufficiently prepared to conduct a full-scale war if it breaks out and could exhaust their capabilities after months of peer-to-peer warfare. The Independent wrote this on Saturday, February 3.
We are talking about a report by the House of Commons Defense Committee, which states that the British military is not ready for a large-scale war.
“The military is always overstretched, and continued pressure on personnel is exacerbating the recruitment and retention crisis, resulting in more people leaving the Armed Forces than joining them,” representatives warned.
Politicians say the army’s poor preparation for war could pose a threat to Britain’s security.
“Armed Forces reductions since 2010 have weakened the UK’s combat capability,” the document said.
Defense Secretary Grant Shapps recently said the world is “moving from post-war to pre-war” and the UK must ensure the “entire defense ecosystem” is ready to defend the homeland.
As we have already written, the German Bundeswehr is preparing for a possible conflict between Russia and NATO and has predicted its course for all of 2024 and part of 2025.
