Half of the Ukrainian residents have left the city since the invading Russian army began to control the city. However, in place of these people, the enemy brought about 100 thousand citizens of the aggressor country. Not only the military arrived, but also guest performers, migrant workers and other foreigners. The mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, announced this on January 20 on Telegram.
The population of temporarily occupied Melitopol has become larger than it was before the full-scale invasion and occupation… The occupiers are eradicating Ukrainians, importing thousands of guest performers from Russia and changing the gene pool of the nation to TOT,” the mayor noted.
According to Fedorov, until February 24, 2022, 150 thousand people lived in Melitopol. But six months after the occupation, more than half of the indigenous residents left for the territory controlled by Ukraine and abroad.
Let us recall that in December 2023 it became known that the Russian invaders in the occupied territories began preparations for illegal “presidential elections”, in which citizens of the aggressor country would once again “elect” dictator Vladimir Putin. In particular, eight busloads of performers were delivered to Melitopol and settled in “emptied” premises.
