Within six months of the occupation, most of the indigenous residents left the city for Ukrainian-controlled territory and abroad.
During the Russian occupation, the population of Melitopol, Zaporozhye region, increased, despite the fact that more than half of the residents left – about 100 thousand citizens of the Russian Federation were taken to their place. Mayor Ivan Fedorov announced this on Telegram on Tuesday, January 30.
“The population of the temporarily occupied Melitopol has become larger than before the full invasion and occupation… The invaders are evicting Ukrainians, importing thousands of guest performers from Russia and replacing the gene pool of the country in ITO,” wrote the mayor.
Fedorov noted that until February 24, 2022, 150 thousand people lived in Melitopol. Within six months of the occupation, most of the indigenous residents left the city for Ukrainian-controlled territory and abroad.
“However, in almost two years, the Russians brought about 100 thousand guest performers, military, guest workers and other foreigners from the Russian Federation to Melitopol,” he said.
We remind you that the former head of Lugansk OVA, Sergei Gaidai, said that the Russian invaders are bringing whole families of representatives of “small countries” from remote regions of the Russian Federation to the temporarily occupied area of Lugansk region.
