A pro-Russian left party emerged in Germany

Sarah Wagenknecht’s alliance proposes to stop arms supplies to Ukraine, resume relations with the Russian Federation and Russian gas exports, and also impose a moratorium on EU expansion.

In Germany, a left-wing party, the Sarah Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW), was founded, advocating the continuation of relations with Russia and the cessation of aid to Ukraine. On Saturday, January 27, the party held its first founding congress, Ukrinform reports.

It was noted that at the congress, among other things, the program of the European Parliament elections was adopted, in which the party plans to participate on June 9.

The main points of the BSW program are the deepening of relations with Russia, the continuation of oil and gas exports from the Russian Federation with the signing of multi-year contracts, the removal of sanctions that allegedly damaged not the Russian economy, but the European one, and the war in Ukraine, according to the party, still does not stop.

The authors of the program propose a reduction in the stopping point of the supply of German weapons and an immediate cease-fire.

“To encourage Russia to start negotiations, an immediate cessation of all arms exports to Ukraine should be proposed,” the party believes. They insist that stable peace and security in Europe cannot be ensured against the backdrop of a conflict with Russia’s nuclear state, and that the new European world order must “also include Russia in the long term.” Sarah Wagenknecht calls for the EU to become the “Peace Project” it was founded on.

The program also contains sharp criticism of the EU itself in its current form, a demand to give national states more decision-making powers and a proposal to “introduce a moratorium on the enlargement process,” with emphasis on the need to conclude membership negotiations particularly with Ukraine and Moldova.

The new party called for distancing itself from the United States.

In his speech, Wagenknecht called the current German government “the stupidest government in Europe.” His speech also took a toll on conservatives from the CDU/CSU bloc and the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfN), whom he considered the real extremists, and individual party members as outright Nazis. At the same time, the politician did not exclude that moderate members of the AfN, who, from his point of view, have the “correct” approach to the issue of Ukrainian policy, may join his party.

Former Left Party leader Sarah Wagenknecht announced plans to establish her own political force last fall. He brought most of the representatives of this faction to the Bundestag, represented in parliament as “non-factional”.

It was previously reported that in Germany, after large protests, the ratings of the far-right party AdN fell.
