US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will meet on February 9 to discuss aid to Ukraine. This information was confirmed by White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre on Saturday, January 27.
“Both leaders will reaffirm their strong support for Ukraine in defending its land and its people from Russia’s aggressive war,” the statement said.
The heads of state will also prepare an action plan to prevent regional escalation in the Middle East and increase aid and protection for civilians in the Gaza Strip.
In addition, Biden and Scholz will coordinate their actions before the NATO summit in Washington, which will take place from July 9 to 11.
Earlier, the media reported that Scholz was flying to the United States to discuss support for Ukraine.
Germany and Ukraine are preparing a bilateral agreement on security guarantees. The countries are also discussing further defense cooperation, in particular, the strengthening of the Ukrainian air defense system, as well as artillery and armored vehicles.
