Doctors note an increase in the number of flu cases, which is unusual for previous epidemic periods.
17 strains of coronavirus have been recorded in Ukraine. This was announced by the Minister of Health of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko on Friday, January 26, during a telethon.
He noted that the country is experiencing an increase in the number of cases of COVID-19, as well as the flu.
“In Ukraine, according to our surveillance data, 17 strains of coronavirus infection are spreading, including a new strain discovered recently – Jenny. At the same time, we see an increase in the number of cases of influenza, which is not typical for those past epidemic period,” – said Lyashko.
“Since mid-October, almost 2.5 million people have suffered from the flu and flu-like illnesses. Unfortunately, there are also deaths,” he said.
At the same time, he made sure that the hospitals coped with the number of patients admitted to the hospitals with diagnoses of influenza and coronavirus, because the number of hospitals differs from the statistics of 2020-2022.
Lyashko added that the peak of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections is predicted for February.
It was previously reported that after school holidays in Kyiv, the incidence of coronavirus among children increased by 50%. The holidays are over, the children are back at school, and an exchange of infections has occurred, explained the director of the Department of Health of the Kyiv City State Administration.
We remind you that in December of last year, 10 thousand deaths from the coronavirus were recorded in the world.
