Scholz called on allies to step up support for Ukraine, saying EU countries are not doing enough to help Kyiv.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has planned a trip to Washington in the first half of February to meet with US President Joe Biden and discuss further support for Ukraine. Bloomberg reported this on Friday, January 26.
The publication indicates that they plan to rally politicians around aid to Ukraine at a time when the US Congress still has not voted on funding for Kyiv and while the European Union has not provided aid to Ukraine in the amount 50 billion euros.
The publication notes that Scholz has previously said that EU countries are not doing enough to help Kyiv.
Britain has called on its allies to double military aid to Ukraine so it can defend itself against Russian aggressors.
Germany and Ukraine are preparing a bilateral agreement on security guarantees. The countries are also discussing further defense cooperation, in particular, the strengthening of the Ukrainian air defense system, as well as artillery and armored vehicles.
