The attacker was interested in possible routes for the movement of heavy weapons of Ukrainian troops in the direction of the front line. In particular, the enemy wanted information on the movements of HIMARS MLRS, Leopard tanks and Bradley infantry fighting vehicles. The agent had to transfer all these locations to the Russian FSB. The press center of the Security Service of Ukraine reported this on January 24.
The traitor was discovered in a timely manner, which prevented enemy shelling. The defendant was detained in his own home, and his mobile phone, which was used for photographing Defense Forces objects and correspondence with the FSB, was confiscated. The attacker turned out to be a resident of Mirnograd, Donetsk region, whom the Russian intelligence service recruited in December 2023.
To collect intelligence data, the agent walked around the front-line territory and made the “necessary” marks on the electronic map. He then redirected the geolocation with a text description to his Russian curator.
Investigators have already informed the defendant of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 (high treason committed under martial law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The attacker is in custody and faces life imprisonment.
Let us remind you that the SBU caught an agent of the Federal Security Service of Russia who was preparing an environmental terrorist attack in the Odessa region. The attacker received a task from the enemy to identify and transmit the coordinates where toxic substances are stored, including warehouses and storage facilities for pesticides.
