The mandate and terms of engagement defined at the European level still need to be approved by the national government.
Belgium plans to join the European mission against the Houthis in the Red Sea. Le Soir reported this today, January 19.
It is reported that Belgium will provide the frigate Louise-Marie to participate in the defense operation in Europe. There are three missions in total: maritime reconnaissance, escort and protection of merchant ships.
It was also noted that the mandate and terms of engagement defined at the European level still need to be approved by the government.
We remind you that on the night of January 12, the United States and Britain launched the first strikes against the Houthis because of their attacks on ships in the Red Sea. Russia immediately responded by requesting an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.
