Excessive juice consumption adds a lot of calories to your daily diet and leads to spikes in blood glucose levels.
Drinking a glass or more of 100% fruit juice daily can contribute to weight gain in children and adults. This was proven by a study of 25 adults and 17 children, published in the journal JAMA Pediatrics, reports CNN.
Scientists say that in children, each additional serving of 100% fruit juice per day is associated with a 0.03 change in body mass index (BMI). Among adults, BMI changed by 0.02.
“One of the main problems with drinking juice is its quantity. For example, a glass of juice is about three oranges. But don’t we often eat three oranges at a time? And speaking of let’s talk about juice, after drinking a glass, after a minute or two “We can go back for another. Abuse of juice adds a lot of calories to the daily diet and leads to spikes in blood glucose levels. Fruit consumption reduces the risk of abuse,” the scientists added.
According to them, the constant increase in blood sugar level can lead to insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, diabetes, heart disease, obesity and other chronic diseases.
We remind you that according to FAZ, the world is facing a shortage of orange juice.
