The latest attacks against the Houthis did not stop attacks on ships in the Red Sea, the American leader said.
The US military will continue to attack Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen as recent attacks against them have not stopped shipping attacks in the Red Sea. US President Joe Biden announced this on Thursday, January 18, AP reports.
In a conversation with journalists, the US leader said that the United States will continue to destroy the military capabilities of the Houthis, commenting on the latest strikes that took place the previous day.
“When you say they are working, are they stopping the Houthis – no. Are they continuing – yes,” Biden said.
Let’s remember that since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip, the Yemeni Houthis who support Hamas have been attacking ships in the Red Sea and launching rocket attacks on Israeli cities.
On January 12, US and British military aircraft and ships conducted the first strikes on Houthi military installations in Yemen in response to attacks on merchant ships in the Red Sea.
The US put the Houthis back on the list of global terrorist organizations because of their attacks on merchant ships in the Red Sea.
