The workers of the Roman Shukhevych Museum managed to preserve the staircase from the building. The Shukhevych Museum in Belogorsch was destroyed by a suicide bomber on January 1, 2024.

“Public” reported that, according to museum workers, it was on these stairs that the main commander of the UPA, Roman Shukhevych, gave his last battle and fired back from the security officers.

The museum of UPA general-horuner Roman Shukhevych in Belogorsch was completely destroyed by fire. The fire occurred as a result of falling drone debris on January 1, 2024. The bust of the UPA commander survived the fire.

Subsequently, the piano played by Roman Shukhevych was recovered from the rubble. The photograph was shown by workers of the museum, which was destroyed on January 1 as a result of a drone attack.

This is Roman Shukhevych’s small piano, his personal one, on the leftmost key he scratched “Shukhevych.” I’m more sorry for this exhibit, it stood on the first floor, everything fell on it,” says the daughter of the main commander of the UPA, Maria Shukhevych-Trilevskaya.

Museum workers write that they will preserve the piano as a witness to an act of Russian aggression.

The museum of UPA general-horuner Roman Shukhevych was opened in 2001 in the house where the main commander of the UPA Shukhevych died, and where his headquarters was also located.

It was here that the commander’s last battle took place. The museum contained many artifacts and important things. In particular, during its restoration, a ball from a Walter pistol was found in a wooden wall. In addition, the site itself and this building had historical significance. The staircase, hiding place, and living room were the main memorial objects of the museum.

The damage now reaches 2 million 258 thousand UAH – this is the cost of the building. This amount does not include an estimate for valuables.

At the same time, as Public Lviv reports with reference to the OVA, about 600 museum exhibits were moved to a safe place at the beginning of a full-scale war.
