The main thesis of the document prepared by the Estonian Ministry of Defense for participants in the Ramstein format is that the West should not be afraid to help Ukraine in the war.
The Estonian Ministry of Defense has prepared a plan for Ukraine’s NATO allies and participants in the Ramstein format to achieve victory in the war for Ukraine within three years. This was reported by ERR.ee on Sunday, January 14.
It was noted that the main thesis of the document is that the West should not be afraid to help Ukraine in the war. The authors of the plan base their proposals on the fact that the problems and delays in the allocation of funding for aid to Ukraine in Brussels and Washington will be overcome in the near future.
The document emphasizes that the total GDP of all countries of the Ramstein group is 47 trillion euros, of which 0.2% is currently allocated to help Ukraine. At the same time, Russia’s GDP is estimated at only 2 trillion euros. The plan proposed by Estonia involves a serious increase in support for Ukraine in key areas.
The main problem of the current situation is that “Russia has moved on the path of a war economy” and directly directed half of its resources to the launch of the war, while the West “has not yet woken up,” said Kalev Stoicescu, leader of the defense committee of the Estonian parliament.
The Director of the International Center for Defense and Security, Indrek Kannik, believes that “if the military-industrial sector of the West received a clear signal from the moment the war began that it is necessary to significantly increase production, then now the supply volumes will be completely different.” However, due to the skepticism of politicians, this did not happen. In his opinion, “the main problem is the uncertainty of the Western allies and, unfortunately, the United States plays the most important role in this. “
“If Washington takes clearer steps, then European countries will act more decisively,” Kannick said.
Earlier, Estonia announced that it would invest 0.25% of GDP in the defense of Ukraine.
