According to the Polish publication Rzeczpospolita, Sekierski decided to provide written guarantees of the fulfillment of three demands of the protesting farmers: the provision of subsidies for corn, guarantees of no increase in taxes and cheap loans.
Publicly, the Polish farmers’ association “Deceived Village” also demanded that the ban on imports of agricultural products from Ukraine be extended to additional products such as soft fruits, sugar, alcohol, honey, apple concentrate, eggs and poultry.
First, a meeting took place between the parties, then the governor of Kubas-Gul announced the signing of the agreement at a briefing.
Minister Czeslaw Sekierski promised to satisfy all the demands of farmers:
- subsidies for corn in the amount of one million zlotys;
- increase in lending by 2.5 billion zlotys;
- maintaining the agricultural tax at the 2023 level.
On January 4, farmers resumed their blockade of the Medika-Shegini truck checkpoint.
Although the Polish government informed the farmers about the approval of part of the requirements, they demanded written guarantees.
