The United States plans to make the supply of air defense systems a priority in future aid packages to Ukraine.
Strengthening Ukraine’s air defense is a priority in future military aid packages that the United States is willing to provide to Kyiv. This was stated by the White House National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby in a briefing on January 4 in Washington.
According to him, in the list of weapons for which the White House wants to receive additional funding from Congress, the United States considers air defense systems as a priority.
“Air defense would be high on that list,” Kirby said.
He noted that the most effective response to Russia’s aggression against the Ukrainian people is to continue providing the Ukrainian Armed Forces with vital air defense systems and other types of military equipment.
“To do this, we need Congress to immediately approve our request for additional funds for Ukraine,” added a representative of the US presidential administration.
We remind you that earlier the White House said that there was no money for new military support for Ukraine before the US Congress approved it.
On December 27, the United States announced that it would give Ukraine its final military aid package in 2023, worth $250 million.
US President Joe Biden asked Congress in October to approve additional funding, including more than $60 billion for Ukraine. But it stalled in the Senate over bipartisan differences over border security with Mexico.
