The formal head of the Republic of Belarus will also have lifetime security, and the funeral of the former president will be held at public expense.
Self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has signed amendments to the Constitution that regulate the rights of the former president of the republic and his family. This was reported by the press service of the head of Belarus.
According to the amendments, the former president and his family will retain immunity, lifelong protection and the right to use state real estate.
The resigned president and members of his family are not responsible for any crimes committed while in power. Property, property, correspondence and the right to lifelong protection remain inviolable.
In the event that the former head of state dies, his funeral will be conducted at public expense.
The former president himself, after his resignation, will be a delegate to the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly and a lifelong member of the Council of the Republic.
The revised document is not published on the website, but may be found in the web archive.

It should be noted that in 2022 a referendum was held in Belarus on amendments to the Constitution, expanding the rights of the president of the republic.
Earlier in 2021, at the presentation of state awards to the security forces, Lukashenko expressed his reluctance to remain president for life.
As we have already written, Lukashenko said that Ukraine “will still remain with us,” because for the United States it seems to have faded into the background.
