The boy lived in the occupied territory with his grandmother since his mother’s death in the summer of 2022, the Ombudsman said.
12-year-old Andrey was returned from the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson region. Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets announced this today, January 4.
The boy’s older sister applied to the ombudsman’s office with a request to remove him from work: the boy lives in the occupied territory with his grandmother, because his mother died in the summer of 2022.
“During the occupation, they felt all the” advantages of the Russian world “: intimidation, psychological pressure, visits by representatives of the occupation authorities. They threatened to take the boy away from his grandmother and put him in an orphanage, because he left without a legal guardian. On January 1, 2024, they finally ended up in Ukrainian-controlled territory. So the first day of the new year symbolically became the first day of a new life for the family this,” the ombudsman said in a statement.
Let us remind you that the Ukrainian authorities have official data on the deportation of almost 20 thousand children to Russia.
Earlier, Russia said that since the beginning of the war, about 4.8 million Ukrainian citizens have been taken to its territory, more than 700 thousand of them are children.
