On the night of January 4, 2024, a Su-34 tactical bomber burned out at the Russian Shagol airfield. The combat aircraft belonged to the aviation regiment of the 21st mixed air division of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Armed Forces. The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this on social networks.
Intelligence officials emphasized that the causes of the plane fire are being clarified. The Main Intelligence Directorate also showed footage of a Russian fighter being set on fire.
The Su-34 is a multifunctional fighter-bomber designed to carry out missile and bomb strikes against ground targets. This tactical aircraft is capable of attacking targets at a distance of 150-600 km from impact.
