The first video of the shooting of heat traps by the Russian X-101 cruise missile was published on December 29 by journalist Andrei Tsaplienko. However, it is not clear from the video whether she was flying in it across Ukraine during the massive shelling on the morning of December 29.
The Russians have been equipping these missiles with similar systems since at least January 2023.
In 2023, new blocks were noticed on the Russian Kh-101 cruise missiles, which aroused significant interest, including in the Western media. In one of the photos of a cruise missile destroyed on January 26, 2023, published by the Air Force Command, a new unit was seen quite similar to an obstacle installation station.
