Propagandists claim that David Kozak is allegedly a Ukrainian emigrant. The Czech Ministry of Internal Affairs denied this.
The Russians, through their propaganda Telegram channels, are spreading fake news that the suspect in the Prague shooting, 24-year-old student David Kozak, is allegedly a native of Ukraine. This information was denied by Czech officials, the Center for Countering Disinformation reported on Saturday, December 23.
So, the Russians wrote that the shooting at Charles University was allegedly carried out by a man “an ethnic Galician and an emigrant from Ukraine.” Propagandists insist that Czech publications are not voicing this information because allegedly “Ukrainians have already committed too many serious crimes” in the country.
The Russian fake was refuted by the Czech Ministry of Internal Affairs. The head of the department, Vit Rakušan, said that the shooter David Kozak was a Czech by birth who grew up in a Czech family; he has nothing to do with Ukraine.
We remind you that as a result of the shooting in one of the buildings of Charles University, 15 people died and 24 were injured. The shooter was a university student, his body was found near the educational institution. The exact motive for the attack is still unknown, but police do not consider it related to international terrorism.
It was also reported that David Kozak, who ran a Telegram channel in the form of a Russian-language diary, was allegedly inspired to commit the crime by the recent shooting in Bryansk, Russia, by a high school student school.
Saturday in the Czech Republic was declared a day of mourning for the innocent people who lost their lives in the shooting.
